Excellent question, Lionel Tirado!! If the MPAA were to rate this series we feel they may give it a PG-13 rating.
Can you suggest things for Batman neophytes to read or watch to prepare us for watching this series when it is released?
The first 2 episodes of animated series of 1999-2001 as well as the animated movie that was released: "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" are a great place to start. Episodes on Amazon or Google play are available for $1.99 each at the moment.
As far as reading goes... If you are new to Batman tales in general they have a pretty great list of recommended reading on the DC Comics wikia that you could select (at least 3 titles) from prior to watching the animated series and out live action series: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Batman_Recommended_Reading
Even if unable to get to reading and watching but so many of the vast material Batman/Batman Beyond has to offer, our series will still deliver a great story for everyone! Blending genres and sticking to the source material with aims on bringing a quality work of art to everyone, fans and Batman neophytes alike!!!
Will you be making a second season of Batman Beyond: The Series?
We would love to do a second season or a feature length film for Batman Beyond, although that would depend on the attention this season receives followed by the funding/crowdfunding of a second season! Until then, we have more projects on their agenda, and would love to revisit the Batman Beyond universe to deliver more to you! Stay tuned for what's to come: http://www.anaturnalproject.com

Q&A with Director, Nate Lyles - by: Lexi Schofield
-If Batman Beyond is successful will there be more?
If we are fortunate enough to gain a wide audience and/or a bigger budget we would certainly like to do more with the series! The ultimate greatness would of course be to further encourage a "Batman Beyond: The Series" big budget film or television series!
-Can you tell us any of the villains we are going to see in this series?
This series will feature Mad Stan, Inque, Spellbinder and a few cameos dipped into the mix. Don’t want to spoil the surprises! The Jokerz and the T’s will also have scenes in this first season. If we are lucky enough to have the privilege and resources for a second season, I'm looking to bring in the Royal Flush Gang, and possibly Shirek.
-Will there be a new villain every episode of the eight episode series or will there be a long season arc?
This project is being put together as one story arc. There will be featured villains, supporting characters, and day players. For example, Inque plays a pretty big part in the storyline, though she may not appear in every episode.
-What will make this project stand out among the many fan made projects out there?
To my knowledge (and after doing an online search for more), this will be the first complete web series based on Batman Beyond. The script for this series has been received so well that I feel it stands out from the other Batman Beyond tales told. I have so much faith in my team, that the challenge of doing what is looked at by some as a Sci-Fi Batman, is a challenge I am more than willing to take on. It being a passion project of mine for some years now accompanied by my high-level Batman/Batman Beyond fandom this series will be approached from both a professional filmmaking point of view as well as that of a fan in order to deliver to the fans what they’ve been waiting for so long.
-Is this something a Batman fan who has never watched the series could watch?
Yes it’ll be an enjoyment for everyone. Referencing my last answer, I’m taking on this project with multiple points of view, professional and as a Batman fan, while still maintaining the integrity of the story and the legacy of Bruce Wayne, now transferred to Terry McGinnis. It took me some time to adjust to Bruce Wayne not being Batman, and seeing him in a more vulnerable state, but knowing that he's there coaching and advising the new Batman, it couldn't have been done any other way.
-The animated series explored darker tones than most children series at the time and possibly since. Can we expect the live action series to go even darker and delve into the psychological turmoil that Terry goes through?
Heheh… the dark mood question. The Batman I grew up loving IS the DARK Knight! So, I hate to disappoint anyone looking for this series to be a G-rated kiddie series. Terry McGinnis had faced some tough issues as a teenager. The cartoon even held back on certain things due to it being a cartoon for kids. Now, I’m not saying we’re going to be chopping heads off and dropping F-bombs all crazy, but I’ve peeled back some of those lighter layers and we’ll get to see some of the inner struggle that Terry deals with on a daily basis. Being Batman is not fun and glamorous. Without giving away anything, we do notice how the demanding life of being Batman tugs on the balance of his family and social life. Bruce Wayne can only advise Terry but so much; at the start and end of every night it is Terry who puts the suit on and lives half his life as Batman.
-Are you taking directly from the source material and remaking a live action version? Will there be any new material?
I’ve taken what the cartoon series left us with and continued on from there. The comics [Batman Beyond and Batman Beyond Unlimited] were good resources to delve deeper into the politics of Neo-Gotham in this time period. The language of the people. The lifestyles and social and economic issues in the city. The comic books gave further insight into the relationship of Terry and Bruce as well as Terry and Dana, which was a bit of an influence for developing the series. This is a time when Terry is just out of high school. The story being told here is brand new, and I really love it!!
-Who would you like this project to reach?
It is my hopes and my goal to reach everyone who knows the name Batman to know the name Batman Beyond. Also, at the risk of a pun, I want to go even beyond the fans and welcome everyone who loves Sci-Fi, who enjoy good story telling, to watch and get involved this series. I would also like to reach the Executives in hopes to influence something bigger than this series. But we shall see. Time will tell.
